DUBAI 2017.

Soo last year as you all know I went to Dubai, I always said I didn’t get to do a lot, so I went back again this year and literally did everything I could and got the whole experience. August is a craaazy month to go, its the hottest month and its like 50 degrees everyday. Lets just say it is so hot I couldn’t stand outside for more than 4 minutes and the theme parks were deserted. It didn’t stop me from having an amazing time though!

Hotel – Jumeirah

Last year I stayed in Atlantis, it is a beautiful hotel but its so far from everything and I wanted to try something different so I chose a hotel in the Jumeirah location. Staying in a hotel within this area is amazing because theres four or five hotels next to each other which is quite weird right? But its perfect if you are staying in one of them because they are all owned by the same company and you can use the facilities at all of them such as the pool and if you go half or full board then you can eat at any hotel so you aren’t stuck at one. You can travel around the hotels by a boat and buggy service that runs 24/7. The service is amazing and they give you freebies everyday, they are also so accommodating and treat you like royalty!

Burj Al Arab

The Burj Al Arab is iconic to Dubai and its opposite the hotel, its perfect for your pictures and is breathtaking at night. I didn’t even realise how close I was going to be to it, but it was probably a 30 second walk from the hotel, there is always a buggy service that takes you as well which is ideal in the heat. The Burj Al Arab is known for being luxurious so they are strict on who enters, you can pay around 100AED if you are staying in a Jumeirah hotel to go inside and have food which is better compared to 350AED.  You also have to book it in advance because they are so strict on who goes in and they tick your name off a list so being prepared is key. The service was amazing inside and they treat you like royalty again, even if you are there for a drink. They aren’t kidding when they say it is the best hotel in the world and its definitely something to tick off your bucket list!

Dubai Mall/ Fountain

spent a lot of my time in Dubai Mall last year and I actually ended up going every day for my recent trip. It is huge and if you walk outside you can get the perfect view of the Burj Khalifa. I tried to go during the day but it was physically too hot to even walk outside so I came back at night to see the fountain which I recorded below (p.s the last minute is the best part). It is also home to a Sephora, in my opinion it is best to visit the Sephora stores in other locations because this one was soooo busy and impossible to move around.

Burj Khalifa

This year I went inside the Burj Khalifa, you can book online in advance or through your hotel which is what I did. You have the option to go on the 124th/125th floor or higher which around the 140th floor. The 125th is the perfect floor for the perfect view, the higher you go the view is poor and you don’t want to pay just to see clouds, because you can just do that on the plane! There is professional photographers up there that take family pictures and you can take your own. Once again I didn’t realise that it was outdoor completely so there was no air con and I didn’t stay up there for long and get my moneys worth. It is definitely something you have to do when you go to Dubai and you have to go through a security but it is fairly quick and simple!

Mall Of the Emirates

This is my favourite Mall in Dubai, it was an indoor ski, and is a lot more quieter and chilled than Dubai Mall. There is also a Sephora that is quieter which makes it easier to look around. It has a lot of high street stores and department stores that you will find in the UK.

Dubai Marina Mall and Marina

Dubai Marina is iconic and I didn’t get to go last year. The mall itself is small but it has a nice feel to it. The Sephora there was completely dead so it was perfect again to visit ( can you tell I’m obsessed with Sephora?). The Marina is accessible through the Mall and its best to go at night. The Marina was a five minute drive from my hotel.

Dubai Park and Resorts

I didn’t even know Dubai had Legoland or even any theme parks. They opened at the end of 2016 and it really is in the middle of nowhere. A lot of taxi drivers aren’t really aware of how to get there either so its important to plan and ensure they know. We had a lot of difficulty getting there which was not ideal in the heat! The parks are all together and currently there is Legoland/ Water Park and Bollywood World, however they opened at 3pm when it was a lot cooler as it is all outdoors. The only good thing was that due to the heat the theme parks were practically deserted and there were no ques! I used a site to book all the attractions around Dubai at a low cost and it gives a better insight on what there is to do there which I will link at the end! Legoland is mainly for children and not suitable for people older as the Legoland in London is.

had an amazing time in Dubai and did as much as I could! Its one of those places that you will never get bored of but planning is key to get the most out of the trip. I used headout to book my activities. I didnt get to do the desert safari because it was too hot!

Macbook Pro 2012 Vs Macbook Pro 2016

IMG_8125.JPG

So the new MacBook arrived today after a long awaited 3 weeks and a year of waiting for it to actually be announced! A lot of people may actually wonder if it worth it because it retails for around £1750 which is very expensive, so I decided to compare it to my 2012 Pro version so you can see the differences and make your own judgement.

Macbook Pro 2016

IMG_8114.JPG

It looks so Unbelievably pretty and thin and guess what? It is, it is so compact and lightweight which is perfect for students to carry around to lectures it is also in space grey which makes a change from the standard silver colour that the Pro 2012 was in.

Touchbar

IMG_8117.JPG

The touchbar is the best thing about the new MacBook and it really is amazing! It makes shortcuts a lot more accessible and helps you do things a lot more easier. For example when using the messages app the emojis are displayed on the touchbar making it easy to click on them. If you are listening to music then the play, rewind, pause buttons appear which increases accessibility. The touchbar is also a lot more responsive than I thought it would be considering it is the first time Apple have tried to add this feature on their devices.

Trackpad

IMG_8127.JPG

Although the trackpad has been standard on every single MacBook they have improved it by making it a lot bigger this means that its easier to do the gestures needed on the trackpad as it was difficult to do this on the 2012 version.

Ports

IMG_8119.JPG

On the new MacBook 2016 you get 4 USB C ports which double up as charging ports, for a lot of people this can be offputting as it means more wires! Not gonna lie this is annoying because it means you have no way to use USB standard ports without purchasing an adaptor which does not come free but it is on offer for £9.00 from Apple!

Macbook 2012

IMG_8129.JPG

The MacBook Pro 2012 is a lot thicker compared to the 2016 version however is not that much heavier. It was available in one standard colour which is the iconic silver but now the 2016 version is available in a range of colours.

Trackpad

IMG_8128.JPG

The trackpad is a lot smaller compared to the 2016 version however the gestures can still be done, Apple increased the size of the trackpad for accessibility but I have never used my MacBook and thought wow the trackpad is so small! The keys are lot nicer to type on because the newer version has a butterfly keyboard which means the keys feel a lot more fragile. You will feel wary about pressing on them hard.

IMG_8134.JPG

The one thing that I personally love about this MacBook is the fact the Apple lights up. In the newer models this has not been done and it is quite frustrating but it just adds to the design and I love it! Believe it or not but the Apple not lighting up has been an issue for some people and actually made them question purchasing a MacBook.

IMG_8115.JPG
(Macbook 2016 version Apple does not light up)

Ports

IMG_8131.JPG

The good thing about this MacBook is the range of ports, there are two standard USB ports which is great for charging devices or plugging in devices. There is also an E ethernet cable for people that do not have access to wifi and a card slot which I actually use a lot! It is annoying how the new MacBook 2016 does not have this but then again not everyone needs all those ports.

Overall

I love the design of the new MacBook so much and it really is great. The touchbar is honestly amazing and makes it worth the money. If you buy the new MacBook it is worth investing extra for the touchbar. The technical specifications are available on the Apple website. If the Apple not lighting up does not bother you and the lack of ports available then you should go purchase!

There are also a lot of amazing marble cases available for the MacBook and iPhones from http://www.coconut-lane.com and if you use the code shannonchatta20 you can get 20% off!

Date Night.

Everyone needs that perfect date night look. I’ve combined a combination of outfits that I personally love and obviously they are all black because its the only colour I ever wear. These looks are simple yet Classy.

Face

I went for a smokey eyed look and went natural on the lips as I wanted my eyes to stand out. However I wanted the eyes to look natural too so I went for a Brown theme. I opted for the Brown look instead of the typical Black smoky look because I don’t wear makeup very often so felt it would suit me better.

Outfit 1:

I loveeee this outfit so much!!! Its so simple but it just looks amazing. I chose a bandeau top as its best suited with culottes. I wanted to keep it elegant but sexy at the same time as it is date night after all. Black strappy heels are perfect for this outfit or if you wanted them to stand out then I would recommend a nude colour.

Outfit 2:

This outfit is also one of my favourites, it can be used for any occassion also, such as going to work, going out with friends and of course DATE NIGHT.

I chose a sheer blouse to wear with a pencil skirt but I like to wear it open so its best to wear a top underneath and once again a bandeau is perfect for this! I also paired it with Louboutins and a Choker from NikitabyNiki.

Dubai TwentySixteen.

From pictures you see everywhere Dubai is known as the prettiest place to visit and its luxury heritage. But apart from visiting the Burj Khalifa and visiting Sephora; does anyone know what to actually do there?

I went to Dubai pretty clueless, all i knew was that i needed pretty outfits and enough money to blow in Sephora. I stayed there for five days and honestly I spent about two of those days out in Dubai and the rest of the time in the hotel because I wasn’t really sure of the things to do there. So this post is for people that are interested in going, I’m going to talk about my experience, where i stayed, what i did and what I would of liked to do..

Shopping

So the first thing I did when i got to Dubai was obviously go shopping! Now one thing people don’t tell you is that there are two malls in Dubai, mall of the emirates and the Dubai mall. The Dubai mall is the big one that features mainly high end prestige shops. The second one is the Mall of emirates and in my opinion I prefer this one a lot more because the atmosphere was more friendly and it was busy because there was a mixture of shops and affordable ones with the standard H&M, Topshop and New Look etc. I didn’t really enjoy the vibe in Dubai mall because it was quiet and the shops didn’t really appeal much to me. But I highly recommend you visit BOTH, its an amazing experience and they are about 15 minutes away from each other. Emirates Mall also has an ice rink which is indoor and is great to do.

Hotel

The key place on holiday is the hotel, when people tell you that the Atlantis Dubai is the perfect place to be, it really is, I can’t even explain how amazing it is. From when you approach the hotel the service is amazing, when you walk into the lobby its breathtaking. The hotel has 23 restaurants and an aquarium and if you were lucky enough to get a view of the aquarium from your balcony like i was, a lot of your time will be spent here. One thing about this hotel is that its honestly hugeeeee! So research it beforehand and a lot of food places have strict dress codes like Nobu so to save embarrassment its worth looking at.

Waterpark

Have you heard of a hotel having a waterpark before? Well with Atlantis you get free access if you are a guest at the hotel so you can visit everyday. I honestly didn’t really enjoy the waterpark because i didn’t think there was a lot to do apart from a few waterslides but it was good considering that it was within the hotel. I preferred to go swimming by the pool in the hotel which is reasonably sized considering the hotel had its own waterpark and a lot of people would be expected to go there instead of using their pools. The hotel provides buggies to take you to and from the waterpark which is walking distance but in the heat it can be unbearable.

Burj Khalifa/ Dancing Fountain

When you go to the Dubai Mall I highly recommend waiting outside the back entrance to see the dancing fountains, its honestly worth it. Its right next to the Burj Khalifa also so you can visit all those places at once. When visiting the Burj Khalifa its best to get the tickets online before you go! For tickets to the top floor its around 350 AED which is around £70.00. Its worth the money in my opinion, its not everyday you get the chance to go to Dubai!

What i would of liked to do

I would of loved to visit the Desert so many people visit when they go! But i went in August which is the worst time to go for heat and a lot of people in Dubai try to get away at this time so the heat was unbearable to visit the Desert but next time its on my to do list.

Due to my disappointment in the hotels waterpark I would of wanted to visit the main waterpark in Dubai known as the wild wadi waterpark, however I didn’t know that it even existed! When travelling to Dubai i highly recommend you take the time to see all the things you can do and book in advance, it will make your trip a lot better and you won’t have regrets when you come back home.
